Look! Wine Rack as Magazine Storage

_MG_3911wh.jpg

We recently found what we think is a wine rack at our local thrift shop, Boomerangs. But we're not big drinkers so no need for the wine storage. We decided to employ it as magazine storage — in this case, an homage to now defunct House & Garden magazine. There will be those of you who bristle at the idea of storing out-of-print magazines rolled up...

But with the rate at which magazines are falling out of print, we'll be changing the shrine regularly so no magazine will be rolled for too long. Sadly, we're planning to rotate in some Domino magazines next.

Check out this wine rack turned towel holder posted by Beth on ATLA.

Maybe it's a type A thing, but it drives me mad to read magazines that have been folded up like that.

bellaknollie,

we've been hit with lots of naysays as bloggers but I'd have to say that's my first "fail whale". that's a special one.

Shouldn't it be "fail wail?" Either way, it's awesome.

Eh, I kind of like it. But not for magazines I'd want to keep. Just for magazines I plan to recycle after a month or two anyway.

I've heard of this before, and I'm not a fan. I'm still on the fence about rolled up towels in wine racks. It can look okay if done right, or bad if done poorly....

I for one think it is a great idea for a recycled wine rack or any other rack for that matter...at times, there are certain magazines we just want to display

Now I've got to make a Fail Whale to hand around at work when someone truly screws something up. Thanks!

And I'm of the group that says curled magazines are harder to read. But they do look colorful in the rack.

awww im glad you guys liked my fail whale.

and yes its fail whale.

i made little cutouts of a whale with the word fail on it. i often give it to ppl around me that annoy me or just plain blow.

hahahhaha

if i wanted a rolled up magazine, i would come back in my next life as a dog. being that only dogs get the whole " roll up " thing.
