Alkov Square Baskets from Ikea

_MG_2632.jpg

We are VERY picky about baskets, to the point where we don't have many in our life. But lately we've really been craving a way to store blankets in our living room for watching movies on particularly chilly nights. So when we stumbled across these contemporary baskets from Ikea, we thought the price was worth the good-looking storage...

The basket comes in 2 sizes, approximately 18" x 18" x 18" for the large basket ($39.99) (which is the one we bought for our blanket storage) and 15" x 15" x 15" for the smaller basket ($29.99). The price is steeper than usual for Ikea but we really appreciate the flip-top lid design, the black wood base, the touches of black in the basket itself and the square design. All of these elements add up to make the basket feel more modern and palatable to us.

Check them out at Ikea.

I just bought two of these over the weekend, to use as storage in the bathroom under our floating vanity. They are very nice, worth the price. I like the black stand at the bottom, and the lid. As you said, the black definitely gives it more of a modern touch.

I love this basket - got one of Craig's List last year (the bigger one) for $20, tags still attached - didn't even know what a good deal I was getting. We also store couch blankies in it, and it's so nice to have them close, but out of site for a "cleaner" look. It also doubles as an end table to pull up for items that don't need too much steadying (books, trays, laptop, etc - a little too uneven for glasses or candles). The best bonus is that our cat - who usually destroys anything woven pretty quickly - has tried her best to use this as a claw-sharpener, to no avail. It must be constructed pretty well! A great buy.

ilovebc, I have one of these baskets. They're definitely not strong enought to sit on, unless you're a cat.
