We have officially decided that we plan to stay in our apartment for at least a couple more years. This might not sound like a big deal but for two serial movers, it's a milestone. We love this place...except for two areas of lingering dark wood paneling. So, to celebrate our decision, we painted them out this weekend...
Don't ask why the hallway wasn't completed when we first undertook the great paint last summer. Supposedly we left it alone to keep the hallway from going "too light," although now that its all painted yummy Sweat Pear, the hall feels twice as big. The dining room closet doors, likewise, were sucking all the light and clashing with our mid-century teak table and vintage orange shell chairs. Now, the whole house is nice and bright and we can finally put painting behind us... maybe...
The offwhite trim is painted to match existing wood work throughout the apartment (Ben Moore Sailcloth) and the yellow is a wonderfully pale yet vibrant citrus that is soft and anything but overwhelming (Ben Moore Sweet Pear).
All before pictures of when half the house was covered in this dark wood paneling can be seen in our 2-part post: Transforming Dark Wood Panel, Part One: How-To Paint Kitchen Cabinets; and How To: Remove Wallpaper / Hang Drywall, Transforming Dark Wood Panel, Part Two.
I liked the before!

Nice work! (Though that should say "Sweet Pear" and not "Sweat Pear," right?)

This reminds me of the time I bought some horrible airport fried plantains in Costa Rica and they were labeled "sweat plantains," Elizabeth B...

@idontdobeige Not huge, but definitely an improvement. I like the contrast between the hallway and the dining room in the first "after" shot.
