Maybe its the frigid January weather, or maybe its our freezing cold bedroom — whatever the reason, we are loving this warm, vintage Plank Bed by VivaTerra. And we're not the alone — as we were preparing this post, we noticed Aaron over on AT NY wrote about another VivaTerra bed. Made of reclaimed Douglas fir from razed buildings and finished with an eco-friendly wax, this bed makes us want to climb right in under a heavy down comforter. And now, it's on sale...

We are officially at that stage in life where serious (non-Ikea) bed-purchasing contemplation sets in and this is a lovely piece to contemplate. The dark grain Plank Bed
would look great against our deep blue walls...
Now 15% off, the queen size is $1,675, available in light and dark finish. Has anyone ever purchased a bed frame (or other large furniture piece) from Viva Terra? The craftsmanship always looks so lovely but we'd love to hear a first-person review from our readers!

I love the leg detail! Gorgeous bed.

Looks very nice, but why's eco-friendly always gotta be so damn expensive?

These people get featured a lot of AT. Do they pay for the privilege? I mean, it's gorgeous stuff, we get it, but prohibitively priced, and they pop up here several times per week. I'd prefer leads to gorgeous AND affordable furniture. And leads do differing sources would me more helpful than links to the same company over and over. Even on sale these Viva Terra pieces are too pricey for me and most people I know.

Does anyone know where someone can purchase those twisted wood pieces in the first picture to the left of the bed? There is a reclaimed bed in a Sundance catalog I get that is even more beautiful.

This bed is absolutely beautiful! Unfortunatley, Viva Terra is completely unrealistic in the price they're charging for it. I actually tried to purchase it online for the sales price of $1695 plus the $250 shipping charge, but once they added on an additional 10% (for items over $300) as well as the CA sales tax, the bed came to whopping $2250; $420 was shipping alone. This company is kidding itself. I'll be having the handyman in my life make me the bed unless someone knows where I can purchase it without Viva Terra as the middle-man, and I'm sure it will be equally beautiful.
