Laura's Briny Blue Bedroom
Room for Color - East #7

thumbs up

Name: Laura
Location: Waltham, Massachusetts
Type of Home: condo

Color Inspiration: Every color goes with every other color in my house. Purple and green? Sure. Yellow and robin's egg blue? Why not? I find something I like (usually a crazy pattern of some sort) pick out a few main colors and an accent.

Give Laura a THUMBS UP if you think this room belongs in the finals!

Beckoning Creatures

Colors Used: Briny by Sherman Williams (6775) for my bedroom accent wall

Color Tip: Pick an accent color to bring corners of your room together, but have it not be overwhelming. I used orange in my bedroom, quite a loud color for a place of rest, but since it's sparse, it's just a little wake up call every now and then.

Gorgeous blue, but I wish you'd continue it in the room; I think it would make your beautiful antiques and colorful accents stand out even more. Lovely room!

I agree with SQ -- I think you should paint all four walls of the room that gorgeous blue!

I agree--love the blue! MORE! :) And, with that cute nook, you could paint that differently if you wanted!

I'm in agreement with the other commenters... you should do the whole room that color!

I'm gonna agree with everyone else. That blue is so great, I would love to see more of it.

I really don't like the word "briny" it hurts my face to say it or read it. I love the way that color blue looks in your room, I just think it needs a new name.

Wow I really love that vanity/dresser/armoire! You never see pieces like that. I agree with painting the nook that blue color, or a few shades lighter maybe.

I love the color. Your furniture and details are wonderful...
But, I do agree with the others about painting the rest of the walls. More color!
If you love it, keep it of course, but if you were debating at all whether to paint the rest of the walls I say do it. I don't think it will overwhelm, and the warmth it will create will match better with the feel of your furnishings.

Wow! Those are basically the colors I'm doing in my bedroom! And I haven't picked the paint out yet, so I'm definitely going to check that out.

I'd have loved a picture take of a corner because I feel like the pictures are very disjointed. I'm not really sure how the beautiful blue wall interacts with the rest of the space.

the vanity area is kinda neat. i'm thinking it would look seriously cool if you highlighted the shape w/ some color on the back wall. i'd play off the colors in that jade hand & tray.

Definitely an eye for color, mixing colors you might not think would look good together, you prove it wrong!

Love the blue. I don't think you need to paint all the wall in that colour but you do need to repeat the colour on the other walls either by painting the molding, the doors or frames or by bring it in another way. You could also paint the other walls a gray or a white that has been tinted with that blue. That would make the reflect the blue even more.

I love that blue, however aside from the one wall, the entire room is lacking colour, and since the contest is about colour, I am disappointed.

Thanks everyone for your input! Though it would be great to paint the whole room that blue. It would be too dark. This room only has 1 window that only gets direct sunlight an hour or two a day. I just moved in about 4 months ago so I haven't finished yet, but plan to paint the inside of the nook and hang more art on the white walls to draw more color in.

Thanks again and good luck to all the other wonderful contestants!
