Eva Rug from Ballard Designs

Ballard Designs isn't a source we typically shop for our home decor but we recently stumbled across this relatively affordable damask area rug. There's something about it that we really like...

It probably has to do with the orange color - we're on a bit of an orange kick lately. We like what looks to be a subtle variation in tones within the orange design. This would be a fun rug for a variety of rooms from bedroom to dining room to living room.

We also really appreciate that you can order a free swatch of the rug, available in orange or red, to be sure you like the actual colors. The rug comes in a wide variety of sizes with the 6'7" x 9'6" coming in at $299.00. The price is on the low end since it's machine loomed in polyproylene instead of wool. We bought a similar rug from Ballard and it was a miserable, raggedy thing. You get what you pay for. I was thin, frayed upon delivery and the colors were duller than expected. I guess the key is getting the swatch first.

I have never purchased anything from Ballard Design, although I think they have some nice things ocassionally. I love this rug, but then again, orange is my favorite color. Does sound like one might want to order a swatch first, though. :)

I wish EVERY online rug source offered sample corners for rugs! Nothing is more annoying that trying to return a rug via UPS.

I've been saving my pennies for this rug for a bit. Love the crisp edges of the primary orange damask and the overall oversized pattern. No experience with Ballard Designs, though, so if morina is right in that the quality is unlivable I'd love any other recommendations for similar items.

I've been happy with all my Ballard purchases over the years-lighting, furniture and decor items. I'm working at a modular desk right now that's been great for my home. Quality has been excellent. They are sort of a southern Pottery Barn.
