"Scala" Painted Stairs by Horst Gläsker

Last year we posted about a couple who penned excerpts of their grandparents love letters on their stairs. Inside your own home is one thing but Horst Gläsker raises the bar by combining emotional words with bright colors on a public German stairway.

We spotted these photos of artist and professor Horst Gläsker's "Scala" on Hue. He painted 112 steps, all conveying a different emotion or behavior associated with relationships. Examples include "to forgive", "to cuddle", "to offer resistance","to seduce", "to get the tinglies", "panic", "to flourish", and of course "love".

Should we ever be so lucky as to walk down this German street, there is no way we could resist the lure of strolling up these colorful stairs.

Can we hire the guy to do an American version? because it's high time the Exorcist stairs got a facelift and started working towards a better reputation!

This is a boost of rainbow happiness, especially on a dreary day! I can only imagine how it'd glow during a night of quiet snowfall....

Stunning and heartfelt.
I had an immediate emotion reaction upon seeing these and I have no idea what those words mean.

@mntngr -- maybe you should do a Goth version! In Latin, of course, using key words from ye olde exorcism rite.

I love this stair! I wish it was in Los Angeles - it would make me happy every time I saw it. Unfortunately, we're pretty lacking in public stairs of any kind, much less cool ones like these.

@mntngr: you were probably one of the folks I glared at if you didn't get out of my way fast enough.

@caminante: and you might've been one of the folks joining me in glaring-mode.

Heh.
