You may remember Mary's question about DIY powder-coating back around Easter. She was in a rush to get her Marais A chairs from eBay painted white and was contemplating doing it herself. But she took your advice and left it to the professionals and now her once chocolate chairs are a crisp, clean white...

Thanks to a suggestion from the crowd, Mary took her chairs to Fine Finish Shop in Lynn and, even though it was a little more expensive than she anticipated, she raved that the folks were super friendly and did a fantastic job in only a couple of days.
Mary initially bought her Marais A chairs on eBay for $75 each and paid $45 each for the new powder coat, bringing the total per-chair cost to only $110 — a great savings on the usual $200 pricetag. Congrats, Mary! They look fantastic.

I don't recall ever seeing the version with arms before — love it!

And the great thing is the powder coat will hold up so much better than paint would have.

See I disagree. I thought they had personality before. They are nice now, no doubt, but I liked them before.

CAT!!!
As for the chair, I agree with grafxnerd that they lost a bit of character in white, but that being said, they seem to work much better in the room. The room seems much brighter and airy now.

You have such an adorable cat!

I also agree that they lost character going white. Too many people just think that redoing chairs means painting them white. But anyway, the job looks clean and professional and it blends with the white. very nice.

the brown chairs really didn't have character to begin with. the dull, dark paint sucked light out of the room. painting the chairs makes them feel bright and fresh, not generic. since they are the only things that are painted white in the house, they really add a bright pop.

I am so envious, these are my dream chairs. I would love to find these chairs for a bargain on ebay or craigslist. I like them both ways, thanks for sharing.

Mary made the right choice. $45 each is a small price to pay for a professional finish that won't get grubby like paint, didn't eat up dozens of hours of her time, and looks pristine.
Oh, sorry, I almost forgot. KITTY!!!!!1!!!1!
We're required to do that, right?

have to disagree with AMT230. The table is fine by the window -- gives you more space for traffic and to circulate. however i might suggest a small banquette with cushions and pillows to provide a comfy space to lounge while someone else is cooking. have seen some nice ones made from ikea cabinets.

I wonder if Mary did this so her ebay chairs would match her armchair. I love the finished look.
Hey cat!

I would have stained/painted that table before I painted those chairs... but whatev. The chair looks cool in the last picture over that rug but I don't think they fit with the table now.
