Shady Tree Ceiling Lamps: By Nicolette Brunklaus

We've seen Nicolette Brunklaus' work on the internet but only during our recent visit to Lekker in the South End did we get to appreciate it in person. Save Tord Boontje, we don't usually gravitate toward "illustrated" furnishings but these pendants really won us over in store...

The warm glow of trees peeking out from inside the shade is truly whimsical without sacrificing an ounce of sophistication. The effect would be amazing over a dining table — seemingly a clean and simple pendant shade from standing eye level but magically transformed when seated below. We also had no idea that the Shady Tree shades came in so many varieties (all available via Lekker's website). The gold/green exterior with the trees inside is our favorite.

SUPER nice, but not worth a 1/4 of the price being asked for those. I don't understand how lighting is SO expensive for such simplistic styles.
