We wrote about an antique mailbox cabinet a few weeks ago and several readers expressed an interest in finding their own vintage organization furniture — specifically card catalogs. As luck would have it, an Etsy seller sent us an email advertising his prize collection of Yale University card catalogs which have been salvaged from the school's ongoing library renovations...

From what we can tell these pieces are geniune and in excellent condition. Currently there are only 4 items in the store — including a very unique marble base dental cabinet — so if you're truly interested, you might act sooner rather than later. Prices range from $600 to $1600 depending on size. Happy Hunting!
You can see the original post on the antique mailbox cabinet here.
I want one to use for recipe cards.

Oh my goodness - I want them! There is an excellent likelihood that I used these. Of course, used is an exaggeration - more like looked at / studied them. By the time I was at Yale they were of course merely decorative, but as such they were fantastic - why get rid of them?

I have one by my desk in my classroom. I use it to store tea, snacks, napkins, etc. My fifth graders have never encountered a card catalog in a library. 15 years ago my mother-in-law scored one at a yard sale for me. I keep my craft items in it, with books on top.
