Congratulations Jennifer! She was one of our favorites all along and we're excited to see what her show will be like when it debuts in January on HGTV.
Who did you vote for? What did you think about the cast reunion—a.k.a. love fest. Aren't most cast reunions a little more bitter? We thought Tracee burned all her bridges...
I think she's awesome! However, I'm disappointed she won. I just thought he really had more of what it takes and thought he had more to offer. Oh well... She's the next best in my book.

Didn't really care who won out of the two... like her artistic flare and his ingenuity and architectural view point. I felt like this entire season was BLAH.... the only thing interesting was watchin Trish and Mikey V hang all over each other.

I'm glad she won. Sometimes I wish she didn't paint everything with swirly vines & stuff, but I thought Matt should have been voted off back when he did that tower out of couch cushions. I was never impressed with him.

I liked them both, but yeah I didn't totally love any particular designer on this season. I think she would be a better host of a show with her personality, but design wise I think it was a toss up.

"Didn't really care who won"
Ditto - I can't say I was overly impressed with either one.
I will say that HGTV finally did some good with the challenges by making them more realistic - I thought that redoing the folks New Orleans homes was a very good thing.

I voted for Jennifer and am glad she one. But this season all together was a disappointment. Had Matt own I won't have been hurt.
I didn't see the real challenge with the New Orleans makeovers. How difficult is it to make over a blank slate. Putting down flooring, painting the walls, & filling a room with furniture not so hard.

She's no David. And neither is Ms. Myles.
*swoon*
But aside from swooning, design-wise I enjoy him the most.

I was incredibly offended that Mickey V was asked not to come back for the finale. Seriously I think I may just stop watching HGTV. I get that he may have made some choices the network didnt agree with...but they were a DOZEN years ago and it was MUCH more obvious that he wasnt there than if he had been.
Anyway... it was sickening amongst all of the comments about "family" and "we're all lifelong friends". I'm really sad about how homophobic a network can be with such a huge gay following. I mean, does anyone really believe Frank on Trading Spaces has a wife? Or that Michael Stribling needed to disclaim that he didnt have a wife? The Mikey V thing is just one more in a string of str8washing by HGTV. :(

i like them both but Jenn's style does not stand out from HGTV's current stable.

I couldn't really care less that she won. I think a cool idea for her show would be her and her husband (also an interior designer) hosted a show together.
Could be different.

I'm confused-- why was Mikey V asked not to come back?
view ehat's profile
Re Mikey V -- I don't think he was asked not to come back, or not asked to come back, I think he just couldn't make the finale. Modfan is jumping to conclusions.

Ehat - rumors surfaced that Mikey V may have (probably) starred in a gay porn film in 1996. A bunch of bloggers posted a single G-rated image of him from the movie and compared the tattoos. According to HGTV message boards he was told not to attend the finale on the day of.
Its like "ooh, someone made a mistake once in their lives" lets all behave like that one act defines the rest of their existence.

Right now I'm really enjoying "Find Your Style" on HGTV. Unlike Design Star it actually shows real, livable and stylish designs for your home.

Both Matt & Jenn are not visionary designers in anyway. HGTV is very middle of the road, safe & low budget so *Jenn will fit right into the mix. Could not believe Scotty felt last night was the forum to argue with the judges about why he was cancelled. The bickering was difficult to watch. The show is mediocre at best. David still sets the bar. It's been down hill from there. And someone should tell Cynthia Rowley that she dresses like a teenager even though she's in her 50's.
(*not saying she's not a lovely person)

quiltmaster: thanks for sharing that link to Mikey V's home.
What he did in the past is in the past and not all that relevant to the present.
IF Mikey V designed and did much of the construction work on his own home, then I'd say HGTV is the real loser here.

p.s. All the blog chat about why Mikey wasn't on the show is just speculation. Actually gossip. There is on evidence that HGTV asked him to stay away. And the idea that HGTV is anti-gay is ridiculous. Has anybody seen David? HEL-LO...
p.p.s. Frank on Trading Spaces really is married. I've met his wife and together they are two of the cutest things you'll ever see. A regular pair of snickering giggling lovebirds; perfect for each other. Not that there'd be anything wrong with him being gay if he were. But, one should be very careful about jumping to conclusions about people one doesn't know.

I only watch David's show. Not only is he the one that set the bar he is eye candy and does such an awesome job.

I think Matt should have won. The blog on the HGTV site had lots of comments about how both Jennifer and Matt should have won and done a joint hosting show. That might have been interesting. If one of them were to redo something for me, I'd choose Matt. Not fond of wall murals and curly cues.

Off-topic. IS it me or is David's show getting pretty boring these days? It's become sort of a design on a dime on steroids. Has anybody noticed how diminished Danielle's role has become?
view quiltmaster's profile
Oh, it's not speculation, you can find the video if you want. It's pretty clearly him, too.
I think it'd be an awesome plus plus if my designer was a porn star, but maybe that's just me.

I love Kim Myles. I'm just saying. David is great too.
Jen is okay, I wasn't super impressed with the show but I think she might really shine on her own. Matt would have driven me crazy as a host ("Yay! Alright!) but he was awesome otherwise.
