What was one of the biggest challenges you faced in furnishing your small home? The biggest challenge was designing a layout for our small living room to accommodate our grand piano. My husband and I are composer and pianist respectively and use the piano on a daily basis. We decided to break the living room into two areas. One for working at the piano and one for entertaining. The need to free up extra space gave us a good excuse to purchase a flat screen tv, which we hung on the wall.

I love it but then again, a baby grand, green, a chippendale sofa, and library are in my dream house.

What an amazing use of such a small space. Congratulations on creating something both beautiful and grand (in both senses) that seems well beyond its scale.

I'm so impressed that you fit that piano in there without the rest of your space seeming totally cluttered and packed full. I love all the stuff on your walls too!

I really like the use of space. It feels lived in but not cluttered. Love the art on the walls.

For some reason I find animals sleeping on furniture amusing.
Especially when they're completely oblivious to everything else. For example, there is a person in the room taking a picture and the animal doesn't even care.

This is really amazing - two people, two pets, and a large piano in a very small space, without it looking crammed. Congratulations on a job well done!

Big fan.

I think it will have an uphill battle, unfortunately, because it's not modern/mid-century style. Here's hoping more people vote for it.

I love that they were able to fit in a (freakin') piano! Jeez.

Plus, I have the same sheet music cabinet :) it's lovely.

Now THIS is my kind of style! Very grand, rich yet comfortable and warm. It seems almost Parisian to me.
Love it!
Thumbs up from me!

Very inspiring! We're moving to a 700 sq ft place near Boston and I wasn't sure how my grand piano would fit into the space.

I feel like much of what it hung on your walls is hung significantly too high.

They get a thumbs up for the groovy art collection, the antique furniture, and for managing to fit a grand piano into a 450 square foot apartment. How cool is that?

I am so impressed you fit a grand piano and all those books in your living room! Well done! Nice Beethoven bust above the built in bookshelf. :) The music filing cabinet is a great piece, too. Good luck!

Too bad the voting was closed....I would have given you a thumbs up. Traditional with a little twist....looks like an evolved decor over the years. The piano is beautiful! The home looks very cultured, with music and many books...with a little furball on your lap. :)
