Stripes in the Bathroom

We spotted the striped bathroom in the first image while photographing a Massachusetts home for an upcoming house tour and were impressed by how some subdued stripes can make a small space feel like the inside of a pretty jewel box.

Painting decorative stripes on a bathroom wall is far less expensive than tiling and more practical than wallpaper in a space where moisture can be an issue. Plus, stripes provide that preppy nautical New England vibe we love so much here (in small, bathroom-sized, doses).

wow i really like the first image. every single element in that bathroom goes against my normal code of likes and dislikes (colored toilet, kitchy sink, gold fixtures) but adding the stripes really pulls this bathroom "don't" right into my bathroom "do" category

i saw a picture of a bathroom that had stripes. they were the same color just using flat and glossy paint. it looked great!

I love the black and white one with the matching shower curtain, it's like being in a circus tent. You know, in a good way!

I love the second, third, and fifth pics. The second sort of creates a tent-like look that I've always loved.

I like the first one (aside from the sink and a few fixtures) . . but the second one makes my head hurt. Maybe only for a kids bathroom? But otherwise. eeks.

Humbug! Sorry, just felt compelled to say it, especially when looking at that second picture. Not keen on any of these uniform stripes but stripes that varied in width, of two or more colours (or of different finishes/textures) would definitely tick my box.... in a manner of speaking...

Last spring I painted my bathroom walls and ceiling in yellow and white stripes and I was inspired by the black and white circus tent photo. It took a solid month to graph the walls and ceiling, plus prime and paint, but the end result was fabulous. I get tons of compliments on it. I'd attach photos, but I don't have a blog.

Wow that second one made me dizzy - felt like I was in a fun house for a second.
