Sustainable Fabrics Inspired by the Sea

We love it when locally-made, environmentally-conscious products find their way into our mailbox. Add a dose of New England inspiration into the aesthetic and it really makes us smile. Introducing the debut line of eco-friendly fabrics inspired by the ocean from the Rhode Island-based company Oliveira...

From the Oliveira Website:

Our debut line; "Ocean Collection" uses a ground cloth of Chinese hemp and is hand silk-screened by artisans right here in New England with waterbased, high-light-fast, pigment dyes, free of heavy metals. These dyes are approved by The Organic Trade Association's Fiber Standards. (We are members of OTA.) We recommend our fabrics for light upholstery, draperies, pillows/cushions, and conversational chairs. No chemical finishes, flame-retardants are ever used. The fabrics should be professionally cleaned-seeking out solvent free or minimal solvent based cleaning when and where available.

We're not usually big on the nautical theme but one of these bold, graphic patterns would add a delightful pop of New England nature in a more neutral space. The Ocean Collection is available through these retailers.

I like these. And, I live in New England :)
BTW, the photos shown don't really read "nautical" to me. More like botanicals.
