Local Escape: Porches Inn at MASS MoCA

Self described as retro-edgy with industrial granny chic ambiance, The Porches Inn in North Adams, MA is a great place to stay for traditional New England design with an updated twist. Sparked by the opening of MASS MoCA, the property consists of six 1890's victorian rowhouses connected by 240 feet of rocking chair-lined porches...

The 47 rooms feature beadboard walls in four color schemes: terra cotta, pale blueberry, celery green and sage green with complementary wood floors painted in olive green, red, pumpkin and buttercup. Patterned wool rugs further highlight the floors. An eclectic collection of lamps from the 1940’s and 1950’s, etched glass mirrors and vintage vinyl upholstery mix with more contemporary pieces as well as painted Vermont-made bureaus and bedside tables.

We haven't stayed here yet, but we are planning our trip. These interiors really inspire us to create spaces that are uniquely New England while still being very fresh and modern. If you've never been to the Berkshires, this is one great reason to go — the other three being the amazing MASS MoCa, the nearby Clark Art Museum, and of course the beautiful Berkshire landscape.

My boyfriend and I stayed here last fall and we were so charmed by the decor and little finishing touches. There was even a house cat! I highly recommend this inn. On our stay it was Halloween and they left some candy on the bed. Very sweet.

We've stayed at Porches Inn many times since it opened. The rooms are sooooo cozy, and I especially love the fact that there are dvd players in every room and the breakfast is excellent.

"retro-edgy with industrial granny chic ambiance"

Really, who did they get to write this?

That being said, the place looks awesome.

"industrial granny chic ambiance" they might not have laughed at me..
