Call me fickle. Granny Smiths used to be my favorite. But something's shifted and my new display fruit of choice is the lemon:
Maybe it's their refreshing quality or sun-shiny disposition, but lemons definitely have a great appeal to use as display (and as an ingredient in summertime dishes!). Ask me again this fall and maybe I will have switched back to apples.

I once enjoyed a spa treat at the big hotel in downtown Toronto where everyone walked around in thick white terry robes. All around the entire white and glass space were enormous undecorated clear glass bowls filled with lemons. There must have been at least 100 lemons. We were each issued lemon water in big glasses, too. I'll bet they went through that quantity every day. The extravagance was fun.
Lemon curd remains my all time favorite thing to do with lemons. Oh, and lemon squares, and...and...
It's a great idea if you use a lot of lemons. They are incredibly useful in cleaning and cooking. I go through a lot of them.

Such a great combination of fragrance and simple beauty.
I don't often drink sodas...
...but when I do have a CocaCola, I love a fresh slice of lemon in it.
I went to a wedding in June where, in lieu of flowers, the couple had glass apothecary jars full of lemons for their centerpieces. Fresh, happy, and really budget-friendly.
We drink cocktails before dinner every day, so I have white porcelain footed bowls of lemons, limes, oranges, and grapefruits around all the time. It saves money on flowers (unless it's lavender or orchids, a flower is not gonna help you make a drink) and are just as colorful.
Only problem is, lemons rot more quickly if they're touching. Luckily, this only happens infrequently in my household.
@ Gardenroze ~ My dream is to live in a house with a lemon tree before I die. I'm so jealous of your lemons.
