My latest DIY was hanging wine crates on the kitchen wall. https://capeofdreams.wordpress.com/2013/01/21/no-whining-over-these-crates/
My favorite was the coat rack I made for my now husband for our first Christmas together. http://capeofdreams.wordpress.com/2012/08/10/homemade-coat-rack/
We're pretty proud of this Craigslist Score/ DIY combo! http://www.freshcoatofpaint.ca/2013/02/craigslist-score.html
I'm a dedicated DIY'er. Some of my favorites...

My favorite to date is our canvas chalkboard calendar:

I'm still in love with my dresser refinishing project that I completed last year - it makes me smile every time I see it - http://sweetsuite10.com/2012/02/my-thank-god-its-finally-finished-dresser-rehabilitation-project/
I've been plotting and planning, so hopefully next year I've got another contender for my favorite project!
Painted the entire house. Wow was it an undertaking, but every day now when I look at my home, I feel a sense of pride.
We re-worked the kitchen in our house on the cheap (for less than $1,000 over the course of a year.) We're never going to have a $30,000 budget to renovate it, so we're going to make it work! As always, there is still work to do.

I get so many compliments on my DIY doggie fort. Lola loves it as well :)
http://www.justagirlandherlittledog.com/2012/11/diydoggiefort.html
We also love our bowling lane bench and coffee table: http://www.freshcoatofpaint.ca/2013/01/7-reasons-to-love-reclaimed-wood_25.html#more
and our dresser-turned-buffet: http://www.freshcoatofpaint.ca/2013/02/diy-easy-buffet.html
Finally getting all rooms in my home just the way I want them. Took 3 years but well worth the wait.
We're still giddy about our dark and dramatic DIY wainscoting.
I did http://www.apartmenttherapy.com/diy-tangle-free-headphones-wit-162321 for my ipad charging cable and while it seems like it took me forever to complete, it was totally worth it!
I really want to see this one but the page is not loading for me. :(
Weird! It's working okay on my end, but maybe without a hyperlink?? http://www.chrislovesjulia.com/2012/10/our-dark-diyed-wainscoting-reveal.html
Proud of overcoming the fear of reupholstering an old chair...and loving the outcome!

I'm in the process of staging my overly-funky house for re-sale, and just put up a pretty sweet entryway system. http://bohohouseandhome.blogspot.ca/2013/02/before-and-after-foyer.html
I've also been working on the bathroom and it's pretty nice, too!

Definitely my completely DIY bathroom, well I use the term loosely as my dad actually did most of the work himself - I just made decisions, helped lift and hold things, and wrote the checks. This bathroom was so bad I couldn't use it when I moved in, now that it is done we are about to start on the guest bath. I love my bathroom though, it isn't super fancy and I couldn't afford to change the layout but it is super cheerful and the color makes me smile every morning. Since it is the master bath, I plan on doing a lot of the same things to the guest bath so my guests can experience the cheery yellow to.

We just made our daughter and 8 foot long floating filing cabinet desk. It was so desperately needed in her room and she just loves it.

My personal favourite for myself is our garden bed/trellis. This is my first backyard in 21 years and I am taking every opportunity I can to grow my own food.

I am pretty proud and happy about the craft desk my husband built [and i painted] last summer. http://www.cookbakesewcraftrepeat.com/2012/07/its-been-while.html
My husband and I completely redid a house ourselves, learning everything as we went along via the internet. In fact, we had a working wifi connection before we had a working toilet, which was handy because there is plenty of online advice on how to install a toilet. Here are our befores and afters:

Probably my kitchen pegboard:

I don't have a before shot, but imagine a blank wall there :)
It's a tie between installing new hardwood (450sqft) and 18" porceline tile floors (350 sqft) and landscaping 2 sides (so far) of my house from weeds and dirt. Doing the front this year and it's gonna be great!
Hubby installed the wood floors, I did the tile, the wood took about a month start to finish (4 hours a day after work). After we were done I said I'd never tile again in this life, husband said if I ever divorce him he's ripping up the wood floor and taking it with him. Totally fair.
I made this little booklet from scratch:
http://www.thegiventhought.com/2011/03/10/travel-booklet/
We made a headboard for about $20 and I LOVE it!

Hello Calamityayne,
Where did you get those fab boutique-style coat racks in your new and wonderful entry way?
Thanks,
JnJ
Hehe, the amount of responses to this - people are really proud!
We did the whole gutting and renovation of our apartment ourselves, but the only part I still can't believe we did ourselves is building a brand new balcony (on the 3rd floor) and raising the roof by 20 inches + installing skylights in it - AFTER we recovered it - because we had no idea you were supposed to install skylights first.
Torn between the wall unit I made out of an entertainment centre, a bookcase, and some extra wood and paint:

and the slipcovers I just finished with a lot of blood sweat and tears (made by tearing up an old duvet cover):

Also the chairs I found and re-upholstered, backed by the mural my mom painted:

I can't choose!!!
Turning a side table into a pet bed is one of my favorites!
http://girlofa1000dreams.wordpress.com/2013/02/07/thrift-store-hash-side-table-pet-bed/
I also anted a very expensive tufted ottoman but made one myself for so much cheaper!

We're renovating our entire mid-century modern home so it's one project after another. Some of our favorites are:
Master Bedroom Built-In Dress/Vanity:
http://www.agoodehouse.com/2012/05/update-bedroom-cabinet-refinising/
We build (DIY) a King-Size Platform Bed:
http://www.agoodehouse.com/2012/08/king-sized/
I tore out my entire closet and built a new one with lovely split level hanging and lots of shoe shelves:
http://www.agoodehouse.com/2012/02/out-of-the-boxes/
And MY MOST FAVORITE was the renovation of our outdated galley kitchen. With custom cabinets, quarts counters, new lighting and fixtures... it was a little dream come true:
http://www.agoodehouse.com/room-by-room/galley-kitchen/
My all-time favorite DIY, is the shower curtain my best-friend and I made for our first apartment… a place where we didn’t have any furniture or an answering machine, but it was the most fun either of us could imagine… I still have the shower curtain, and it makes me sentimental every time I read it.
My most "complicated" DIY to date has been refinishing an old laminate chest of drawers. http://www.hogaroso.blogspot.com/2012/09/hogar-dresser-makeover.html
In 2013 I want to up the ante and stencil a wall in our bedroom, and refinish a great large vintage dresser that has seen better days.
Either my Mondrian knockoff
http://homeindisarray.blogspot.com/2012/07/diy-mondrian.html
Or the marble coffee table we built
http://homeindisarray.blogspot.com/2012/07/our-cheap-coffee-table-project.html
I'm working on my very first crochet blanket! :)
By the way, I LOVE posts like this. Such a great way to find new blogs to follow!
Mine aren't major demolitions or building furniture from scratch, but they made me pretty happy. It started with reorganizing my spices and giving them a dedicated drawer, which then meant I had to find a new place for my measuring cups and spoons (hung sheet metal and magnetic hooks on the inside of a cupboard door). And while I was playing with magnets, I decided to hang magnetic strips to keep my recipes off the counter while I cook, recipes I had just reorganized into a new recipe binder.
So yeah, not huge projects, but between the four of them, they make my kitchen so much more functional!
Thanks for the great post. There's a wonderful world of DIY-ers out there and many interesting blogs to discover!
Hi JnJ
I work in retail, so my boss let me take them home from work. You could find somthing similar at a retail display store. I believe ours originally came from a store called WR DIsplay (http://www.wrdisplay.ca/catalog/) but you should be able to Google retail display + the name of your city and find something similar.

40' footbridge over the creek behind my house. Work-in-progress; still needs railings.
http://i802.photobucket.com/albums/yy309/red_bridge/BridgeinFlood.jpg
BTW, that was during a dramatic flood - usually the water level's a good five feet lower!
Happiest: building our deck.
Proudest: replacing our kitchen.
I love that story of the shower curtain!
The biggest project that we've done to date is a complete re-do of our daughters room: taking it from little girl to teen worthy. It's one of my favorite spaces in the house.

The simplest DIY that still puts a big smile on my face are these updated chairs.
http://www.storypiece.net/2012/06/27/garden-color/
But the one that still makes me laugh because of it's sheer ridiculousness is this one.
http://www.storypiece.net/2012/03/13/the-picaken-pinterest-challenge/
painting stripes on my ceiling - was a hell of a lot harder than I thought it would be.

http://tinkartist.blogspot.com/2013/02/kitchen-facelift-on-budget-that-is.html Just redid a lot in my kitchen and there is a step by step for each project and lots of photos. Please come on by!!!
My first major sewing project and the DIY project I am most proud of is a hot air balloon mobile for my baby girl. I made it out of organic cotton fabrics, 100% wool felt and all natural cotton stuffing.

I just finished reupholstering some old dining room chairs. It was time consuming but easy and came out great! It really brightened up the whole room! Wish I could upload a pic but I don't have a website.
Thanks for a fun post! I enjoyed getting inspired by all of these great DIY ideas...

Well... I had to mention one more D-i-Y because this one has become an all time favourite by so many on my blog. They are grapevine balls and they look spectacular in your yard all year round. Another proud one for me is my new bookcase that used to be a built in bar. As this area in my condo used to be the dinning area, but this bar was just awkward. As I dont drink and this area is in the process of becoming my office, I decided to make it into a book case. I drew up the plans and carpenter dad turned them into reality.

I'm also really proud of this easy, high-impact pixel painting: http://www.freshcoatofpaint.ca/2013/02/make-your-own-pixel-art.html
I'm most proud about my LEGO-themed shelves http://snp.gd/ta7rja which are next to my LEGO bricks storage http://snp.gd/ta53xu at my desk http://snp.gd/ta7ics
Have a look!
