Today marks Braun's 90th anniversary! Of all the years they've been in business, the seventies were when they were arguably their most influential. Dieter Rams started at Braun in 1961 and changed the way the world saw their products. His motto was famously "less but better," a revolutionary approach to design in a time of clunky oversized electronics.

This AB1 started a series of travel-sized alarm clocks that Rams designed for Braun. (The form was later refined and updated by Dietrich Lubs.) The AB1s are hard to find today (I've had a bunch), but UK store Charles & Marie has a few left for €36 each (Nova 68 has some in the US as well). Side note: Martha Stewart likes these so much, she used to sell them out of her Martha by Mail catalog.
