Yawn, strrretch Still fantasizing about a long winter's nap and thinking about all the entertaining to do this month when I realized — some of the most fun is entertaining in bed.
Okay stop. I simply meant preparing a lovely breakfast and presenting it (along with newspaper or favorite magazine) to your loved one on a beautiful tray. I did quick scan of eBay and 1st Dibs and a few other places and found a nice little selection of trays to choose from.

nice trays.
But has anyone ever tried to dine in bed? It's awful unless you're sick as a dog and can't get up. I hate breakfast in bed. Can't move, everything spills, sitting at 90 degrees is uncomfortable, etc.
oooh, I have a couple of random cupboard doors from a kitchen redo and I've been trying to figure out what to do with them. I think I'm gonna have to try the DIY option...
Never.
I hate eating in bed, too. I don't even do it when I'm sick.
That said, the only really practical bed tray is the kind with legs. Then you at least don't have to worry about balancing it on your outstretched legs.
This one is not very stylish but it's way more practical than the ones in the post:

I love eating in bed, every saturday and sunday I make breakfast in bed for us and we have dinner in bed often too! it's so nice... i have 2 great trays and we're good to go! like a picnic but without the park :)
Looks like the price for # 9 went up threefold.
Ok, lets focus on the most important part of this---WHERE does one find those teeny-weeny jars of jam?!?
The best breakfast-in-bed trays, none of which seem to be included here, have folding legs, which make them much more stable and user-friendly. They can often be found in second-hand shops.
I have breakfast in bed every morning and NEVER use a tray. Would definitely use the yellow, reversible or vintage silver one, though.
I think the more expensive ones in this post are ugly (which, I guess, is a good thing for me, so that I don't have to pine after something I can't afford :P )
I've seen small jars of jam, lemon curd, honey, etc at World Market. I'm sure you can find them in other places too.
I've been served Bonne Maman miniature jams at nicer hotels, and I think they're sold on Amazon, a pack of about 15 jars for about $15. They also sell the regular-size jam in a pack of 6, so be sure to read the descriptions carefully.
I've also seen those tiny jars of jam at the local Christmas Tree Shop - have no idea why they carry food, but whatever.
I am in love with that egg-yolk yellow tray, though I agree that flat serving trays are rather impractical for breakfast in bed. I have a super cheap plastic Ikea tray with skinny metal flip-down legs that sits by my bed that I use often. It's good for holding that last cup of tea or hot chocolate while also providing a surface for a bedtime crossword puzzle.
i hate eating in bed. spent too much time sick as a child and it reminds me of the sick room. nice idea, but not for me.
however, in my family we've always eaten dry things like sandwiches and muffins from wooden trays (something like #6) because they make awesome crumb catchers but save on washing plates. i've moved away years ago but picked up some acacia wood trays at target recently and am back to that old habit.
