Fountain, an iOS app that allows you to connect instantly via video chat with pre-qualified home and garden professionals, is available to download right now. We reported on Fountain's beta in October, and now we're excited to announce their official launch; it's is a cool overlap of tech and interiors, and a major advancement in how we can all DIY more successfully at home.

Started by Aaron Patzer, founder and former CEO of Mint.com, and Jean Sini, formerly the CTO of One Kings Lane, the app is debuting at LAUNCH Festival in San Francisco. See how it works after the jump:

“Fountain was borne out my frustration as a new homeowner – so many things needed to be fixed or updated, but I had no idea where to start,” said Patzer. “The Internet is great for answering basic questions, but often falls short for anything personal or contextual, like home projects. You need to talk to a real person – or, better yet, show them. A picture’s worth a thousand words, and a 1:1 video chat with a live professional is worth even more.”

Which is why Fountain is so neat. For $7 for 15 minutes, you're connected instantly via audio or video call with a pro—an architect, interior designer, electrician, appliance specialist, plumber, flooring expert, master gardener, general contractor, and more— where you can share photos, video, and texts about your issue. If you really dig your pro, they're saved in your history and you can dial them directly for any future questions.

Update 3.13.15: Fountain won at LAUNCH Festival, and is a featured "Best New App" in the Apple App Store.
