We find that a good floor lamp is hard to come by.
Table lamps are a great way to add distinction to a room, and everyone from Target to Ikea has great low priced options. But the floor lamp is a tough nut to crack. Inexpensive models tend to be cheap and rickety, and any time we see one we like it is never less that $800.
We saw this Brett Floor Lamp in the Pottery Barn online catalog, and while we wish it were wood, this metal Pepper mill- style standing lamp has substance and weight, without being too intrusive.
At under $200, we think it just might be the floor lamp to beat.

I just got a great floor lamp from restoration hardware for about $130. it's great.
Yeah, I was eyeballing this as well. It looks like a Jamie Young lamp for about a third of the price. My only bad thought...does it have a huge "footprint" and take up tons of space?
I found one like this at Linen n things. Their new line from Nate Burkus has one very similar with a great shade for 99.00! it is wood and black. It is great! Now only if I can find a matching table lamp!
