Name: Brian
Location: Vancouver — British Columbia, Canada
When my husband's brother moved to Vancouver from San Francisco, we decided we wanted to give him a swanky pad he could call his own. After too many years of temporary apartments and roommates he finally had a permanent space all his own.
The challenge was to mix the few pieces he had shipped from San Francisco (including items from his travels across Africa and Asia, his time spent living in Maui, Toronto, Los Angeles and San Francisco) and to do it all on a limited budget. Some items — like the great regency chair — were second hand finds (the alley behind our building) and others — like the rug and blue banquette — were new purchases. We threw in some IKEA and Homesense shopping and Voila! — eclectic, eccentric, and fun! Just the way he likes it!!
Thanks Brian!

I'M REALLY DIGGING THE BLUE BANQUETTE AND GOLD HANGING LIGHT FIXTURE SEEN N LAST PIC ...WHERE R THEY FROM ?
Really like, but the pink wall I don't know. Oh and love the bedding.
As a Vancouverite, it's so nice to see BC represented on AT. What a gorgeous place. Welcome to the province Brian! You'll love living here :)
Very nice. Of course I would like a house tour.d
How sweet of you to do that for him! I wish my apartment looked that cohesive...
Where is that 3-pronged floor lamp from? I love it!
House tour please! Loving the blue banquette and sheets. Nice vibe! More, more!
Want to see more. Why does AT tease us with House Calls? Love the colors, especially the pink wall. Where did you get the bedding? Love it!
I really like the pink wall, but I actually think it would have even more impact by having just the wall behind the bookshelves pink, and the rest white. Or you could step it up a notch and have a crazy print wallpaper on the rest of the wall. Just my .02, great place!
I absolutely love that bedding! Anyone know where to find it?
House tour, please!
I would also love to know where you got the blue banquette, and the oversized houndstooth for the chair. It's all very lovely!
clean,fun and just lovely.
I live in Vancouver... and nearly certain I saw the banquette at Homesense, would have bought it myself if I had the room left in my apartment!
Where did you get the pink/orange/yellow living room rug?
eclectic and fun. whereabouts in vancouver?
It's a little feminine isn't it? Even if he's a gay man, he's not a woman. I like the pieces you've chosen, but I'd want the banquette and wall in different colours. The fixtures and pillows even scream female. It sounds to me like she made the choices and her brother-in-law has to live with them. imho
I would never pick something from an alley in Vancity, I am too afraid of bedbugs...
does anyone know where the blue couch is from?
Love this space. Is that a drop-leaf dining table? Can you tell me where it's from?
As a Vancouverite I appreciate AT showing a Canadian apartment. Love all of it, especially the bedding...where is it from?
Love a house tour and a resource list please!
This is my old apartment!!! Or at least the same location in the building I used to live in - How strange - I moved out because of how dirty, old, ugly it was... great job Brian!
This is a really really great house tour.
I am really loving the black and white that is happening in this space.
Mr. Goodwill Hunting
love the blue banquette and suit of armor !
