Bridgette Buckley, designer at Bridgette Buckley Studio, shared her summer style with us:
Sun or Shade?: I LOVE the sun, but when it gets too strong, the effect of sunlight filtering through tree branches is pure bliss.
The Color of Summer 2010: Gold. Perhaps more of a texture, or state of mind: it seems that during times like this, when the fatigue of economic downturn sets in, people yearn for notions of lavishness, regardless of how faux they might be. Gold leaf, gold plate, gold lamay, sequins, beads and gold stitching...it all feels right, right now. At your nearest Mega Mall, have a necklace made of your sweetheart's name spelled out in it.
All Time Favorite Vacation:
Put me on a plane to anywhere in Scandinavia and I'll be happy as a clam! Because that's not possible all the time, I'll be enjoying Promontory Point Beach in Chicago, and Indiana Dunes State Park as much as possible this summer.
Most Refreshing Summer Drink:
Tom Collins. I just learned that gin helps cool you down in the heat, which could be just a great excuse to drink it, but my recent experimentation has proven it's true! Add some lemon juice, soda water and sugar, and yum! Cool and refreshing. The original recipe for a Tom Collins from 1876 instructs to drink it while it's "lively".

Planted In The Garden This Year:
Sadly I don't have a garden this year--fire escape, window sill or otherwise--but I have a lot of houseplants and my boyfriend fears I will turn the apartment into a jungle. Cacti, ficus, pothos, rubber tree and tons of jades. I also have a tiny rose bush that just bloomed after being dormant for almost a year!
Essential Summer Song for Party Playlist:
Gone Baby, Don't Be Long by Erykah Badu
Best Book in Beachbag:
The Art of Making Money: The Story of a Master Counterfeiter by Jason Kersten. Written by a journalist, it's as readable as a news article, but with all the twists, turns and character development of a novel. A true story of an underground world, with lots of Chicago history and references.
More to come throughout June, July and August!
