There is nothing stodgy and old-fashioned about these traditional and antique dining room chairs. Bright, bold and downright funky, these reupholstered vintage chairs bring instant funkiness and spark to the dining room.

Shaw's Original Fir...
Oh dear God those chairs are GORGEOUS! I definitely need about 9 more dining rooms to accomodate all of my new chair desires.
I am thinking about painting my chairs. What would be the better choice...spray paint or latex paint with a brush? I am thinking it would be much easier to spray paint chairs then to paint them by hand BUT which holds up better?? Any suggestions on the proper way to paint a chair so that the paint lasts?
Love the chairs. You could hide several small children in that drum shade.
That is an awesome idea! Those are the kinds of chairs I come across all the time at the Salvation Army!
I liked quiet #10 a lot after the busyness of the others, but what's the deal with the extremely tall table with the skirt? Is it really as high as it looks? Where does one put one's knees?
suppliers for the floor in #7?
The lime ones in #4 are so much fun!
Doing something similar right now, with bright white Louis 16th reproduction chairs, vivid green and flowery Kenzo fabric. It's turning out great !
lilielechic: I had to make the same choice for my chairs. I've painted a few pieces of furnitures these past years, and I almost always prefer using a brush. I find that spray paint doesn't last as long as a good semi-gloss latex paint, especially on pieces of furnitures you really use, like chairs. I have some spay paint cans for frames or mirrors, but that's all.
Each one of us has his favorite brand; I use generic primer and Tollens semi-gloss laquer paint (two coats), and have obtained astonishing results. My son's dresser has yet to have its first scratch !
This is SUCH perfect timing! My grandmother just gave me her dining room chairs as she is downsizing and I was thinking how much I love the shape of them but need to update the fabric.. Perfect inspiration!
LOVING #s 2, 5 and 8. Wow!
Loora - Thank you for the advice on painting my chairs. I'll definitely be using a brush and a semi-gloss paint. Appreciate your response!
