We featured a how-to on ice lanterns a few years back, but the idea is so appealing we thought it deserved a little revisiting. A bunch of these lining a walkway can set an elegant tone for a holiday party before the guests even step through the door. Plus, they are pretty much free.
Almost Unschoolers has a great tutorial on this winter project that is both kid and budget friendly. Using a mixing bowl, a small cup and a votive candle (and, of course, some water) their family created a really beautiful piece of outdoor art that casts an almost magical glow when lit.
This project is truly a case of getting lots of bang for your buck. Get the step-by-step instructions at Almost Unschoolers.
