Bibliophiles might find it hard to part with their collections or reduce their clutter after a few weeks of voracious reading. But with a few well placed stacks, there is no need to sacrifice style if your book covers are as colorful as the stories inside.
Books strewn about in a small space can become overwhelmingly chaotic in a short amount of time. The key to controlling the clutter is to work with the problem instead of fighting it. Find places in your home that need a splash of color — the kind of place where you might display an interesting vase or sculpture. Then fill that empty space with thoughtfully stacked books.
You might be surprised at how a random collection of books can pop with color. Designing books is a highly coveted and competitive position, so many covers are works of art in their own right. These works of art can be integrated into any space as bright accents or combined in sculptural patterns for a more dramatic effect.
Finally, colorful stacks of books make a statement about your character. These stacks say, "I'm intellectually and artistically bright, with an impeccable eye for interior design."

Shaw's Original Fir...
where are those stools from? me love.
I really need to better use my book collection as decor. My bookshelves are a mess!
Funny, my books seem to be saying something else... ;-)
I absolutely revere books (and I have an e-reader ~ the two are compatible!).
I have a small collection of books that I've whittled down to just my favorites and I wanted a unique but inexpensive way to display them, so I went to the hardware store and bought white metal L-shaped shelf brackets for 98 cents each. Each bracket has a max capacity of 85 lbs which was more than adequate. I screwed two brackets side by side about 5-6" apart into the wall about two feet above the floor and stacked my collection on top. I'm not crazy about the brackets showing (I should have hung them a little lower), but I LOVE seeing my favorite books hanging out on the wall and not stuck in a boxy, ugly bookcase!
I'm not sure what this says about me, but (inspired by AT) I tried sorting my books by their spine color. It broke down as 80% black, 10% white, and just a few of all the other colors.
Now I'm thinking about making my dust covers.
I have my books out in the living room so I arranged them by color and it looks so much sleeker now!!
I love that turquoise chair in the fifth photo.
