Pumpkins bring a lot of natural color to seasonal decor right around now. But what if you want something a little more eye-popping? Check out these colorfully-painted pumpkins for a little unexpected color on the familiar favorite:
- 1 & 2: From Better Homes & Gardens, these pumpkins are all jazzed up with Krylon spray paint.
- 3: Whoa - this glossy kelly green makes these stacked pumpkins look almost like a ceramic. See Boots & Totty for more.
- 4: Colorful polka-dots, again from Better Homes & Gardens.

Yuk. Pumpkins have great color without paint. Isn't that the point of having them around??
No. Leave the painting and decorating for easter eggs. Pumpkins are beautiful as they are. If you want seasonal decorations with more color and interest, try using gourds.
That's just wrong!
I think they're pretty, and I don't mind if it's wrong.
It doesn't bother me. I wouldn't use them to decorate my home for autumn, but my niece would get a huge kick out of that sparkly purple pumpkin.
An affront to the eyes.
Wretched.
I could/would never, ever do that to a pumpkin. I put them in the compost after they start to wither.
Gilding the pumpkin (lily)?
Weird and pointless.
These are hidiculous (hideous + ridiculous).
Very cool and modern looking. Of course there is nothing wrong with going old school either.
I don't see what the big deal is, it's just something different. Just because it's not "traditional/natural" looking doesn't mean it's ugly.
sweet t studio-
it's not ugly because it's not "traditional/natural" looking. it's ugly because it's ugly.
omg, love! It's the new glitter pumpkin for 2010. Now where can I find some Krylon spray paint?
I love them!
Oh, and from the Krylon website it suggests starting with an artificial pumpkin. So you could use the same one each year!
