Name: Brigsby (due 12/16/10)
Location: Lithia, FL
Color Inspiration: There really was no plan or inspiration. I just wanted chaos. Lots of colors and patterns and contrast. And I wanted to do it myself...so I hand stenciled the walls, painted the stripes and clouds, nailed birds to the ceiling. About half way through, the room kind of reminded me of a carnival and that made me happy. Instead of trying to find things that matched, I just went with whatever piqued my interest at the time...and I got the calm chaos I wanted from the very beginning.
Tip for Using Color: Look at everything individually to avoid the room being too matchy-matchy. As long as you love each individual rug/blanket/artwork/accessory it will all come together in a really surprising, unplanned way.
Colors Used: Teal, red, yellow, green, orange, purple, brown, black.
Thanks for your colorful entry Jamie and good luck!

This is a GREAT room! love it! Love the garlands, love the wallpaper (source??) and love the rug! This is really well done, classy and unlike a lot of the rooms I have been seeing here lately. Jumped out at me (in a good way) instantly! Looks like something I would see in Domino mag (if it still existed, sniff)
Wow! Love this!
awwww Jamie <3 its beautiful -Britney
Wao! totally different and so very well done, congrats!...but the word chaos it's gonna have a really meaning in a few years! JA JA!
Oh my gosh, wow! There is certainly a lot going on here but somehow it all works!

Love, love, love~!
Where is that green radio from?
Such cool color palette! I love the bold patterns in the wallpaper and rug!!
This Room BLEW MY MIND. In a good way of course :-}
Wow. So much going on here, but it somehow all works. Love it.
love it! it really reminds me of my boys' room. their birthday is 12/4, so it must be something about december birthdays that inspire chaos. :)
come decorate my room, bring more gnomes
Very nice!!! I have to come see it!
Great job. It's not even my taste and I still love it. Love the mixing of the patterns and the cowhide pulls it all together!
i love it jamie! but you already knew that. you are welcome anytime to carry on that creativity to my place and ill babysit brigsby in return :o)
ADORE this room! Well done!
LOVE it!!!!!!!!!!!
When can you come over to help me with my bedroom...?!?!
great job! So creative, daring, yet classy and vintage/modern...all rolled into one room!!!
by the way, is that an ikea cowhide by any chance? I would really like to know if ppl are happy with their ikea cowhides before I purchase one myself...
any thoughts from anyone out there?
heela - the cowhide is actually plush faux fur fabric from joanne's that i cut to resemble a cow hide. it ended up costing about $10 (on sale) for the 5x7 rug and it's thicker than a normal cowhide and cleans up really well.
That boy deserves nothing less.
Thank You! I just started an all over stencil today, and had a moment of fear... "will it be too much?"
But then I see your beautiful, ordered chaotic room and felt both relieved and inspired. You've done an amazing job! Good idea for the rug, too!!
I would love this for my own bedroom Jamie! Well done.
This is awesome/insane. Can you give more info about your ceiling/bird treatment?
a bit crazy, but also a bit awesome
holy moly
Truly amazing, I love it. And the rug idea... you are a genius!
What are your birds made from? Where did you get them?
Wow, have you been busy!! I love it, it looks great, just like you!
I love everything about this room! I would never think it would all work together but it does, and it's amazing! I LOVE that radio!! Do you mind letting me know the brand? I've Bern trying to google it all evening but I came up empty-handed. Great nursery! Brigsby is super lucky to have it!
WAAAY COOOOOL!!!!!!!!
thank you everyone!
@DahliaCactus & aerobicschica - i painted the ceiling yellow and sponged on some clouds free hand in a lighter yellow. I ordered the birds from Urban Outfitters - they're a really thin plastic. Then I spray painted them gray and nailed them to the ceiling to make sure they wouldn't fall down into the crib or anything.
@britters273 - I got the radio at Goodwill - but the brand is audio solutions and it says 'classic radio' on the top if that helps :)
where did you get the dresser? did you repaint it yourself?
the best room by far! the others dont even compare!!
wow! this is stunning! beautiful work mama :)
