Most slim desks don't usually get a ton of points for being super chic, but this pallet DIY may be the exception. Not only is it one of the smartest desk upcycles I've seen in a while, it gets bonus points for having storage built in.
It's a lot easier to recreate than you might think. You can get an old pallet from a hardware store. If you ask nicely, they'll usually just give them to you. For her version, Peculiar Mee used a really old and distressed pallet, but you could easily recreate that yourself with a newer one.
To create the top, she just removed a few boards from the middle of the pallet. Not only did this create her top, it now made room for her books in the middle sections.
Then, it's a simple matter of finding a good spot and securing the pallet to the wall. If no expensive electronics are going on top of the desk, you could probably just lean it.
If you could get your hands on two pallets, this would also be a brilliant way to create an affordable standing desk with tons of slim storage.
