We want this for ourselves. The BRIO Weaving Loom seems like one of those things a child will take out to play with again and again. The wooden loom supposedly works like the real thing, a great way to demonstrate how weaving is done.
It's recommended for children 8 years and older, but it looks a bit complicated even to us. Has anyone ever used the Weaving Loom or something similar?
The BRIO Weaving Loom is availble here and elsewhere for $39.99.

I had this when I was younger!
I loved it... I made everything from scarves to rugs for my dollhouse, to pot holders and wall hangings...
Seriously, I worked the tar outta that thing, and it never missed a beat.
Well worth every penny, and it gave me a hands on art project early on that wasn't coloring!
I had one too. I loved it. I still love it, and in fact, spent a long weekend about a year ago helping my mom clean her attic and basement, not because I'm a good child, but because I hoped I would find my loom.
I'm tempted to get one for myself...
I suddenly feel that I was deprived as a child. I did not have one of these, but am now tempted to get one for myself as well (under the guise of buying it for our future child, of course.)
You could use the loom to make a lovey for your future baby - that would justify the purchase!
Hi, all, newbie here. I found your comments when I was searching for (yarn) supplies for this Brio loom as I was fortunate enough to find/buy one at Goodwill half-off $1.99 recently! I like the format, topics, and the conversation on this site so decided to join in!
For those experienced on this loom (even if years ago), could any of you please advise the kind of yarn one uses to weave on this? I have oodles of embroidery floss, but assume that is far too thin and would take forever to weave something; also, those strips we used to weave hotpads out of seem far too thick (...is this sounding like Goldilocks & the three bears?!).
Any input would be much appreciated. Weaving on a loom has been on my lifelong list of "things I want to learn" and I'm excited I've finally been able to find an affordable loom to begin.
Thanks!
