Having somewhere permanent to call home. We have travelled quite a bit in the last few years, living out of suitcases in pay-by-the-month studio apartments, air bnb granny-flats, and with family and friends. It means the world that we can spread out and enjoy our belongings in a space that belongs to us.
Our apartment may be small, but it is bright and sunny and full of the things we love. In the morning it smells like baking breakfast cereals because it's close to the cereal factory. We live close by to good friends and to good coffee. It's a solid place to call home as we start our next big adventure.
Three of My Best Tips and Tricks for Creating a Successful Small Space::
1. Choose multifunctional furniture with storage space. Every piece of furniture we own was chosen with "How many comic books can fit in this thing?" in mind.
2. Spend time searching for the furniture you want. Choosing adaptable, quality pieces will make anywhere feel like home regardless of size. Some of our furniture is much too big for our apartment, but we make it work because we love it.
3. Share your space with someone you love. You'll want to come home to a place when you know your friend, partner or puppy will be there waiting for you, no matter how small it is.
