- What I Love About My Small Home:
- I like that there is nice sunlight during the day. I love the exposed brick wall(paper); it's actually wallpaper. I also like the fact that there is a separate kitchen, closet and a small nook for dining.
- Biggest Challenge of Living in a Small Space
- The biggest challenge was to fit all the furniture I have and at the same time be a multifunctional studio. I still want to make the room feel spacious and be able to have friends over. What I did was I pushed the furniture to the sides and tried to create an open space in the middle. I picked a yellow sofa to brighten up the room and have a walnut lounge chair on the side so there is a good contrast. I also used the brick wallpaper and wooden blinds to bring texture, help define the space and create depth.

does that wallpaper look real? I always wanted exposed brick! maybe that would do the trick?
you have a giant lego man! this is such a bright and energetic space!
Cute loveseat--love the yellow. Would have preferred at least one photo of the kitchen, or of the bathroom, or even of the closet area (rather than 5 photos of the same one room). Also found it distracting that the desk chair suddenly changed from an ergonomic computer chair to an eames shell. That said, the light really is lovely.
Great job! Love the Lego dude and the yellow chair. :)
That wallpaper is genius! Love all that light and the blinds are the perfect filter.
Love the yellow couch/chair! I'm moving into a small 250sqft studio in a couple of weeks and I'm looking for a piece about that size. Care sharing where you got it from?
Any chance of pics of the bathroom / shower / kitchen / nook?
The space you've shown is great, but I'm interested in how practical these small spaces can be.
HLARSEN: Before purchasing my condo, I lived in a smaller apt. I purchased a small sofa that pulled out into a twin bed from COSTCO. The mattress is crap but the seating is comfy.
I would suggest buying a 'love seat' rather than a sofa. Or some folks call it a cuddle chair. Good luck.
To Brian: Yes, I agree. Can't vote until we see the full picture of your home.
What a happy space. That chair really is nice although something a bit bigger would be nice for me personally. I totally thought that was real brick before I read the comments. Only thing I'd change up is hanging something over the bed to define that space a bit more. Very nice!
I apologize in advance, because I'm a compulsive re-organizer, and I just want to move all your stuff around. You said you were trying to make room for all your furniture, but I think having one or two fewer pieces could help make the space feel even more open. The tall stack of books goes to the left of the windows (or on shelves above the desk). The boxes underneath the TV either go under the bed, on top of the filing cabinet, or on shelves above the desk. The TV stand is replaced with the low, horizontal bookshelf. The chair goes in front of the windows, but a little pushed out from the walls. Switch the filing cabinet with the desk so the small piece looks less wedged in, or move the stuff in it onto shelves above the desk or on the wallpapered wall so the desk has more room to breathe. You could even take out the small stool under the desk and set it next to the chair so you can partially hide
I say this with the best of intentions.
"You could even take out the small stool under the desk and set it next to the chair so you can partially hide" <-ignore that, I meant to delete it. But you could.
My need to nest is loving this... I really want a smaller apartment just like this... is that weird?
I would have loved to see your kitchen and nook especially as this is one of your favorite parts of your space.
Lovely little space. Nice colour palette. Would have enjoyed a photo of the kitchen.
excelente.. prepararé mi casa para estar en el próximo Small Cool! =)
Take down the Christmas lights.
Sabrina, now I want to post my (not small) space and have you redecorate mine!
How can I not "favorite" a fellow AFOL's (Adult Fan of LEGO) space? Brilliant!
love the color scheme! so cozy and relaxing. but have you thought about switching the position of the bed and desk? :)
Leave up the Christmas lights!
QUIETLIKESNOW, do it! Post a link to Flickr or something!
perfect blend of MCM pieces and modern pieces. I do wish the furniture layout was different but it's not my space so thats that.
Beautiful apartment. May I ask where you bought the wallpaper from? I have been looking for a realistic looking wallpaper but have not been able to find any.
LOVE that loveseat! where is it from?
Where did you get the shallow drawer cabinet between the yellow chair and the desk?
Although this place is small, it seems almost spacious, and the colors are great.
