Last month we gave some advice to a reader seeking help about fixing a warped record, using a variety of DIY fix-it methods. But what if you've got a record so horribly scratched it's now beyond repair? Crafty designer/blogger, Melissa Baswell Williams of Bubbly & Bean, thought up a keen project of reusing old records into something wholly different: a dessert stand!
Thanks to the fact that we were both big fans of vinyl before we met, we share a very large record collection, and in the midst of a record listening marathon one afternoon, Robbie came up with the idea to make dessert stands from vintage records. It took some playing around to figure out the best parts to use, and a few trips to thrift stores to find the right sizes (neither of us were willing to sacrifice any records from our collection), but it ended up being a very easy and quick DIY project with a pretty awesome result.
A lot of these elements are pretty easy to find at yard sales, thrift stores, and Goodwill. Sometimes you can even get most, if not all, of these items for free if you poke around your parents/grandparent's garage or attic (just ask them first, of course!).
