While cleaning is decidedly not one of our favorite things to do, building things certainly is, so it is with an eye towards making clean up more fun that we turn our attention to this nifty little robot. As an added bonus since some of the main components of the robot are from an old computer, the project is also inexpensive. Three cheers for upcycling and cleaning robots!
Instructables user Randy Sarafan wants to make life easier through robotics. In pursuit of this dream he created the Scrub Bot, a "state of the art cleaning robot great at polishing floors and shining glass tables."
As we mentioned in the intro, this project requires inexpensive parts that you might already have around your home, these include, a Frisbee, 3 Scrubber brushes, 2 computer fans, and a bunch of small zip ties.
We think that Scrub Bot is cute and while it is not as powerful a floor cleaning solution as Mint or Roomba it is decidedly much less expensive and is most likely way more fun to use. Since the electric know-how that is needed is minimal, this would also be a great starter project for the primary school set.
