Although the idea of making your own bed by hand sounds rather dreamy and romantic, when you get right down to it, it's sweaty and a great deal of work. That isn't to say the outcome can't be spectacular. Check out the bed above! Think you could make it for less than $200 in about a week?
David and Caroline parker took their cues from Ana White of Knock off Wood. They used some of her original plans for this similar style bed and modified them to fit their own needs. The results are fabulous and could easily be adopted to fit in your own space.
They had previously been sleeping on the floor (and Caroline is 29+ weeks pregnant!) and it has to feel good to be getting a good night's sleep in this beautiful creation now that it's finished. The material costs came in around $200, although that might be less if you have a supply of reclaimed wood you can use. The project took them around a week to complete and now they're on to other parts of their bedroom renovation.
