When I first saw this photo, I thought the two canopy style beds were sweet and cute. A closer look reveals that these beds aren't canopied but built into the wall.
Half of the bed is recessed into the wall! Each of the alcoves is outfitted with a built-in bookshelf so all the child's favorite books and possessions are easily accessible. It's a great architectural feature and provides privacy in a shared room. Want to see more of this room? Run over to Design Dazzle for more photos.

Impractical but adorable!
Just like krgr1428 said, very cute but yikes once your girls grow up enough to want big girl beds/ more space and less kiddie stuff.
As I kid I would have LOVED this. As a mom, I think, "no way." Too hard to change the sheets. Would be perfect in my fantasy vacation home. That someone else cleans.
Oh come on guys, people creative enough to think of this for little girls will be able to make something work for tween and teen girls too. You could change out the scallops and pickets and make it bohemian or modern or whatever. I looked at the linkback and it was the girls' aunt who did the mural, so surely she will be around when they want an upgrade. It's not my style, but I'm not a five-year-old girl. I'm sure the inhabitants of this room love it!
Built-ins are the best! I would love that bed right now, at age 33. And as typwc said, you could easily change the style. True, though, that I'd be grumbling every time I changed the sheets :)
When the girls get too big for wee little beds, they'll probably just move in a bunk bed in the room and turn the alcoves into a closet for each girl. Yay for pre-planned storage!
The mattresses themselves look very tiny, which should make changing the sheets very easy. That mattress looks closer to a toddler size bed than a twin, so it would be easy to pull out and snap fitted sheets on it. :)
It's really pretty to look at, but I think I'd feel claustrophobic.
Wow! I love this! It us so whimsical and beautiful.
I'd live to sleep over.
That is - love!
What a great idea! Think of all the space this opens up in the room. Love it.
Thanks for sharing the built-in beds from our site! It's such a sweet idea for a little girls room. It does open up the room for a lot more floor space.
Fabulous!
I love it!! Let the Nay Sayers say nay, it is a charming room for little girls. I can appreciate the design aesthetic, even if it is not to my taste.
Actually I think we forget about kids enjoying their childhood.
This might be claustrophobic to us and we might worry about sheet changes, but these little girls are going to grow up and always remember what a lovely little nursery they had
I think this is very practical. It defines space nicely, and gives tons of privacy. It's like two bedrooms and playroom, all in one room. Also, it's lovely.
It's adorable. What an incredible mural! I'm sure they could use the spaces later as hideouts from each other.
So creative and absolutely lovely! I would have loved this room when I was a girl - heck, I'm swooning over it now!
I think it is so SO cute! I have a bedroom with two small closets, side-by-side just like that, and little floor space.
My first thought when I saw this was: what a great way to allow for maximum play space in a shared bedroom. Plus, what kid does want a secret hiding space to sleep in?
I also agree with "typwc" about changing it to bohemian later on. Perfect!
I remember that old beds that are folded on the wall, what style is that??
