Yesterday Sarah Rae posted a beautiful pair of minimalist bunk beds featured in Dwell. Here's a different take on the same concept, equally space efficient and fun, but tricked out with a no-holds barred nautical theme, under-bed storage and built-ins for each bunk.
Steven Gambrel (S.R. Gambrel design firm) designed this room for a client's home in the Hamptons. Check out the safety netting up top and portholes between bunks for crew members to peek in on each other.
You can check out his portfolio of work, both town and country, here.

These are amazing. Beautiful!
Beautiful! I love this, although i would not want to be be stuck with making the bed, there is no room to move the matrees so tucking the blankets in wouldn't be the easiest.
Love! Even if you don't have four kids, having the extra beds is nice for sleep-overs, having out-of-town family visit, etc.
I love the anchor sheets! This is very cute and cozy. I wonder how big this room is, though. I think that to really pull this off a room needs to be rather large lest it be a bit claustrophobic.
This is plain amazing It goes straight in my inspiration folder, though I have no idea what to do with it. Still, AMAZING !
I agree, this is lovely. I think bunk beds just look so much better as built-ins than as free-standing furniture.
Love it!
So great. I always wanted bunk beds when I was a little girl...you can bet my two girls are going to have them. I'm pinning this for inspiration later!
OMG. My mom did this for our studio appt. in the country....and that was way back in the 1970's! It was a ski retreat and my older sister and I slep on the top bunks and my younger sister and my mom at the bottom. Too funny! We had great times there!
Can we have the plans on how to do?
