Busts never go out of style. Although, it's best to use the sculptures in minimalist, modern or eclectic interiors. Busts can be a bit stodgy when mixed with traditional furniture and floral textiles.
There are still a few master designers who consistantly rely on traditional busts to enhance their interiors. Gary Spain mixes busts with bright colors and geometric patterns. Skona Hem adds these scultpures to pale enchanting palettes in unexpected places, while Paul Costello will add them as a splash of cosmopolitan seriousness in an amusing room.

Shaw's Original Fir...
Ummm...no.
Opulence, I has it!
I've been looking for classic busts, and found them very hard to find (for a reasonable amoutn of money). Now that I've been on the lookout, I've noticed them turning up in staged interiors quite frequently.
I sense a trend coming...
Busts, like masks, freak me out at night.
I love them but can't afford one.
Also love them, but can't find any halfway decent ones that are affordable. I've found many that are very affordable and more than a little horrifying. I've settled for a phrenology head.
No to the busts, but what is that fabulous huge painting/mural on the wall in the first pic?
I have a bust of karl marx, I love him: here's a pic or two
Yeah, I'm not buying it. Never once have I thought that a bust is what I really need in my space.
P.s I don' t think busts lend an air of opulence to a room. I think opulence lends an air of opulence to a room.
Wow!!! that painting in the first picture looks like Salvador Dali and David LaChapelle had some serious fun the night before creating it!!!
On the bust matter.... I would definitely have one, provided it is a real antique or i've inherited it or it's given to me with some meaning and history behind it (think The Maltese Falcon prop, or a Darth Vader helmet actually used in the movie).
I'd sure not buy it at Restoration Hardware.
Those first two pictures are giving me the heebie-jeebies. The wine-cellar picture, on the other hand... awesome.
I have a bust of Beethoven in my living room, and a collection of those little plastic composer busts arranged in a cupcake stand on my piano. I think they add a fun vibe!
I have a lot of busts, actually - a Greek god in the entryway (he has a chip, so is wearing a scarf to hide it), Buddha in the garden, and a woman in the bedroom on my dresser. Busts are an EXCELLENT place to store necklaces, by the way.
"Ceasar's bust sits on a shelf,
and I'm not feeling that great myself!"
