Damien Hirst's work may represent the ultimate intersection of art, design and commerce — for better or worse — but in the end, these butterfly deck chairs are simply quite pretty and we love the cheeky reference to the iconic chair of the same name. Plus, one would make a for a hot poolside cocktail sipping spot over the long weekend.
The chairs are wood-framed with a seat of digitally printed sailcloth, available in six colors (I'm digging the black) and currently on sale at £500 for two. Visit other criteria to buy or browse editions by Hirst and other artists.

In what will probably prove to be an unpopular opinion: 250quid each seems like an awful lot for a wooden and canvas deckchair that will be tattered by the sun and surf in just a few years -- no matter who screen-printed the seat.
I'm wondering if the true tongue-in-cheek "joke" here is that people will actually buy them (ala: the Emperor's-new-clothes).
Then again, Unica has some even pricier models (but at least of longer-lasting materials).
hmm, maybe i need to just take the canvas off the chair and hang IT as art....can't afford the other DH stuff that is out there....
It would be so easy to sew canvas seats for cheap simple chairs of this same design. Choose any sturdy fabric with a print you like. Straight edges and hems. The chairs are cute, but unless you're enamored of the idea of a collectors' item, 250 pounds per chairs seems ridiculous.
I've been looking for those (non hirst-ed) deckchairs EVERYWHERE and I can't find them. Does anyone know who sells a regular version of these? Restoration Hardware sold a set a few years ago, but I can't find them anywhere.
@pedro: The only places I've found them have been on ebay:

In Argentina, these are the most common "reposeras" you can buy, they cost around us$40 each, here is one of the factories i found http://articulo.mercadolibre.com.ar/MLA-90098430-reposeras-de-quebracho-y-lona-reforzada-almohadita-relax--_JM I wonder if they would be interested in shipping them here and how much the shipment would cost.
When my Mom taught me to sew (yeah, some dudes can sew) when I was about 8 yrs. old, one thing we did was go to the yardage store and buy some wild material and redo the old folding beach chairs we had. They turned out great and cost us about 2 hrs. work for 4 chairs and about $3.
Designers... we love you. Your furniture is too often just plain financial rape. And charging an obscene amount of money may make YOU feel really special, but it makes us feel like you have issues.
Oh, and last November, I recovered my Poang chair from Ikea (looks g r e a t!). Too an hour and cost me, I think, $12 for high-end fabric and additional padding.
