First of all, I have to admit that I think Justin Timberlake could sell ice to an Eskimo. The man is simply hot as hell. That said, I think HomeMint would benefit from more Timberlake - perhaps shirtless modeling with the goods?
Seriously, though, this new venture at HomeMint had us initially intrigued but, in the end, we're left a little nonplussed. For starters, HomeMint is unlike many recent flash sale sites in that it charges a $9.99 per month membership fee. While this fee is deducted from future purchases, I'm not sure how easily this will go down, even with Timberlake's winning smile. According to the site's press release, members may also join without paying the fee. However, by paying the fee members receive discounts on items.
The products on the site, which are curated by Timberlake and celebrity sylist Estee Stanley (the two met when she styled N'Sync), are mostly in the mid- to high-end range. HomeMint offers a Private Collection, "created exclusively by Justin and Estee to complete any room in your home," Unique Finds that the pair have sourced from around the globe, plus limited edition art. They've also teamed up with the folks at Canvas to create a small collection.
Check out HomeMint and let us know your thoughts. Would you pay the membership fee to shop the discounted items? Do you think Justin Timberlake will become the first name in curate home goods?
