Name: Caedmon (9 months)
Location: Oceanside, CA
Division: Single Room
Room Size: 48 square feet
Tip for Living Small with Kids: Keep it simple! Kids don't need a lot to be happy. Put your love into everything you create and the space will be that much more enjoyable and memorable.
Biggest Design Challenge in this Room: Working with a small budget and a small space is always a challenge. In addition, a corner of this "room" is taken up by built-in shelving from floor to almost the ceiling. I wanted to draw attention away from the shelving so I concealed it with curtains (actually a bedsheet folded in half) hung from tension rods.
Favorite Thing About This Room:It's hard to name just one! I am very proud of the wire sculpture I made myself. I love the framed Marimekko tea towel; it really pulls the room together. I also love the natural lighting, which brightens the room and makes me forget that it's a closet!
Thanks for your entry Leah and good luck!

Very cute! Can you share sources for the furniture and artwork, please?
Love the Marimekko towel--I was thinking of getting exactly that fabric in a larger print for my son's nursery, but then I didn't know it came in that very nice and frameable size you have.
Great use of very small space and gorgeously done! Personal Fav is the fish mobile over the crib, did you make that as well?

You should point out all your other personal touches!...like the small painting over the blanket shelf is a finger painting by big brother...like the square frame over the crib is an "i love you" picture made by Mommy to welcome Baby home from the hospital...like the dresser which was once all brown but you painted the front panels white for a personal touch...like the black and white photo over the blanket shelf (can't really be seen in your pictures) of big brother summoning baby brother out of Mommy (with hugs!) the night before Caedmon was born! This whole room is FULL of personal touches which makes it SO unique! Your entry is one of the smallest rooms, and yet you were able to add enough un-cluttered touches to make it look a bedroom. You'd never know it was a closet!
Jenmaselli-Artwork was all handmade, except for the Marimekko towel (already cited) in an Ikea Ribba frame. The crib and shelf are hand-me-downs from big brother and the small dresser is an Ikea Rast, which I stained and painted.
Candace-Mobile is by Flensted (http://www.flensted-mobiles.com/?id=12&mid=139). If it were up to me, I would hang one in every room of the house!
I heart Marimekko! Great job!
That's a Rast? I would never have known. Love it!
Thanks for the link on the tea towels!!
