• I always wanted to be a laidback surfer girl like this. I never was, but I wanted to be. Elgarborat on Etsy.
• This print by the San Diego-based Orange & Park shouts out to California surf spots. I have this print in blue but am really digging the red.
• Even though Seattle is surrounded by water, I long for the sound of crashing waves and the feel of diving under them when it's hot and the ocean seems like the most natural place to be on earth. From San Diego's Madden Photography.
• This photo gives me nostalgia for an era before I was born. I can't help it. It makes me want to hum the Beach Boys. I'm such a SoCal girl at heart. Liz Kuball for 20x200.
• A more abstract take on the barrel. "Hypnotic" by Surfpainter.

Oh, yes, you were misled! While sun in Seattle is a beautiful thing, it can be fleeting. Nothing remotely close to a California summer! Sorry for your longing. Maybe a quick trip to somewhere sunny?
The person who led you astray probably meant well but our expectation of "summer" is likely relative.
Fantastic summer weather to one can be crummy to another.
Bomobob on etsy is the first one I ever saw - great ocean shots!
This summer has been oddly non-existent but even during a normal year it would never compare to San Diego! Have you tried going out to the Washington coast?
Yeah, I'd ask for a refund if I were you. A "great" Seattle summer will not satisfy anyone who has ever lived in California, ever.
(And this is a crappy Seattle summer.)
I am decorating our living room around a beautiful piece of Oregon coast surf art. That said, PNW summers will never compete with SoCal, but we do what we can.
And complain bitterly when it doesn't come through for us. I've lived in OR for 16 years, after all!
I've spent my entire life in the South and HATE sunshine. (It doesn't help that I have pale skin and fry easily, no matter how high the SPF.) I think I'd love Seattle, but moving isn't in the cards.
My cousin's husband does beautiful surf art. His website is http://www.artandsurf.com/. Definitely check it out! You will love it.
I have several Liz Kuball photos. They get me through the winter. Love her work.
Wow I'm loving the Orange and Park prints! :)
