Q: Can anyone identify this amazing framed item above the fireplace (larger photo below)? It almost looks like a framed scarf or something, but I just simply fell in love. Any help is much appreciated!

Damien Hirst
Yep. Damien Hirst.
I believe it's simply called "Dots." You can find wall decals from blik inspired by this work:

Correct.
Or, its a print or knock-off (i thought the original paintings are pretty huge?).
I'd say get some paints and make your own custom knock-off!
oops. Misspoke. Looks like it *is* called LSD.
I agree; it would be pretty easy to make your own knock-off. Go for it!
Yeah, if I were going to make my own I'd get a craft circle punch and then go get a bunch of paint chips from the hardware store. Then I'd have lots of colors without having to mess with too much paint. And it would look very precise because you couldn't smear it. Easy.
Great find! Am totally stealing this knock off idea...have tons of fans decks to do it! Thanks for the inspiration!
Thanks ALL!! I am eternally grateful. Upon googling, sadly, it's a little too rich for my blood - but I am definitely thinking this could be a fun craft project :)
What is the original picture in the post from? I'd like to get a better look at her jacket!
ditto on the Hirst
Wow, the paint chips suggestion is awesome! Thanks, brittmitch.
Just use sticky dots from an office supply store. I don't see what's so great about that print. THEY ARE JUST DOTS!
Heather - I think I recognise it as feature in elle magazine this month following a movie producer lady and all her fashion choices in a given week
Time to go pilfer the hardware store paint section!
@Clairepetrol - Thanks!
Or you could buy a bunch the Eriochrome Cyanine RC postcards and frame them.
Be sure and check out the rest of his work...
Ah yes, Damien Hirst of dead shark suspended in formaldehyde fame.
i have a 'glue painting' from a local los angeles artist named william loveless. i purchased it at studio 111 in palm springs.
his work is gorgeous - and very similar the above.

Actually, the photo is from Elle. I think the November issue

@Heather C - jacket is by Wren
I wouldn't even bother with the paint. I would buy some colored dot stickers at any craft store or school supply store then stick away!
@beyourownsaviour - the skirt is Alexander Wang
brittmitch, thanks for the idea. i trundled off to home depot this morning and bought a 6 ft hollow core closet door, black matte paint, and took many, many paint chips. (they didn't care at all). i'm heading downstairs to paint the first coat right now. while it's drying i'm going to head over to michael's for a craft punch. wahoo!
Damien Hirst
that was easy

I could never line up the dots so perfectly! I'd make it look more like a Pollack.
