For the most part, we know what we can recycle and what we can't in our city. But every once in awhile there's something that makes us scratch our heads. Styrofoam? Tetra Paks? Luckily the LA Times
is starting a series on their Home blog to answer these exact questions. The series "Hey, Can I Recycle This?
", will answer your most pressing recycling questions. Rene Lynch, the LA Home blogger, is interviewing Lisa Harris, a recycling specialist for the city of Long Beach, to get her answers.
Unfortunately, it won't be much help to you unless you live in Long Beach, because curbside recycling differs from town to town, city to city.
But it's interesting nonetheless and makes one point clear: if you're scratching your head over whether or not something can be included with your curbside recycling, the answers are out there. Just contact your city's sanitation department to find out.
