Q: I would like to use 100% Natural Latex foam for furniture upholstery. Is there a special foam for furniture purposes, or can I use the same foam as used for the making of mattresses?

Editor: Phoebe, check out this series on upholstering that master craftsman Matthew Haly did for Re-Nest. According to Matthew, the most common type of foam used for furniture upholstery is LX blue foam. You certainly can use natural latex foam, but unfortunately, it'll cost you. One piece of LX blue foam (1" thick x 24" wide x 108" long) costs approximately $14.00, while one piece of 100% natural latex foam (1" thick x 24" wide x 80" long) costs approximately $160 (trade pricing).

Other suggestions for Phoebe?
