Can This Sofa Be Paired with Non-Mid-Century Pieces?

Good Questions

Q: Hello! Please note that none of the objects in the picture belong to me — this is just a picture of a sofa that I am contemplating buying through Craigslist. Anyway, I am completely furnishing my living room on a small budget, and had planned to buy some midcentury pieces from Craigslist, the IKEA Expedit shelves in white, and some smaller non-MCM items from West Elm or CB2. I think that has potential to look great, but for some reason I just can't picture this sofa in a room with pieces that aren't strictly MCM. Maybe it's the color?

The owner assures me that in real life the color is a subdued olive green. I really want this to work, because the sofa is super cheap and I love the shape. But I'd hate to feel comitted to MCM for my entire house. I can't really afford to "invest" in a nice sofa, as much as I'd like to. So the alternative is probably the IKEA Karlstad in gray. Any thoughts?
