This room was created for baby Elise and her parents wanted something "fun, lively, eclectic, and colorful" and...on a budget. One of the best ways to save money is to put your DIY hat on and get to work, which is just what they did. Take a look around this room and see if you can guess their big money-saving do-it-yourself project.

Okay, this one is a bit unfair because there are several DIY projects viewable here including a stained and painted dresser and the folded paper cranes adorning the walls, but the one I really want to draw your attention to is the chair. It's the budget-friendly STRANDMON Wing Chair ($279) from IKEA with the addition of a swivel rocker base (purchased on eBay).

From Marjorie:

Another challenge we had was finding a comfortable and stylish rocking chair. We didn't have the budget to go super high end on this - there are some really awesome rocking chairs/gliders out there but they are pretty pricey. So, we created our own using an IKEA chair and attaching a swivel rocker bottom. We love the way it turned out and it is super comfortable.

For less than $50, you can add rocking and gliding to a regular arm chair - win!
