What makes you happy? Make a list and find out. Then you can get to work on this creative, simple, but personal project. It looks so pretty when it's done, and makes a great decoration in the home.
We found this project over at Mount Hope Academy, one of our favorite new spots. First Heidi painted an old canvas a solid color- then added some other colors to give it a slightly distressed look. Then she just used a big black felt pen and a ruler to write our her list.
A few other suggestions she had for what to write on your canvas: "a favorite quote or themed words such as foreign cities, favorite foods (great kitchen decor), 'welcome' in numerous languages, names of family members, or favorite books or authors (great library decor)."
We like the idea of putting our family canvas of happiness in our baby's room.

In high school my best friend and I had a notebook we passed back and forth with notes to one another. Every so often we would fill a page or two with a list like this: favorite things, quotes, happy thoughts, inside jokes, etc. This brings back giddy memories of crushes, innocence, silliness, and never wanting to grow up.
also, I have a hard time journaling consistently, but have found a way I can live with to document good memories and feelings. I occasionally make a "happy today" list of the good things that made a day memorable - a meaningful glance, a coworker's joke, a nostalgic scent, a lovely meal, and so on.
not entirely related, but thought I'd share anyway.
What a wonderful project. I envision so many possibilities. I want one for every room! Realistically, we'll at least start with one. Thanks for the tip on the web site. Lovely quotes and other inspiration sprinkled throughout.
A more high tech version of this idea is to use wordle to enter your favorite words into to create art as presented on AT.
