- What do you love about your bedroom?:
- Our Bedroom gets the best light of any room of the house. In the morning the sun comes streaming in (especially if we leave the shades cracked a bit) and we can welcome the new day. It is a sunny, serene, and comfortable place to sleep, read a book, and languish in bed on a Sunday morning.
- What are your tips for creating a beautiful, healthy and organized bedroom?
- I tried to keep my palette pretty neutral with a nice cool gray on the walls (BM Wickham Gray) and white bedding and wood furniture. There are small pops of color, but overall, its neutral and calming. The key to organizing (and keeping things tidy on a daily basis) is to really take the time to make sure that everything has its place. Extra hooks in closets or on wall, trays and bowls on top of the dresser to keep jewelry and nick nacks at bay and the fact that we each have our own closet doesn't hurt either.
- In modern homes, bedrooms have become more than just a place to sleep; they can be a retreat, a home office, a library, a relaxation zone. What are some ways you make the most of your bedroom?
- I tried to create a space in our bedroom that's not just for sleeping, but is still relaxing. The upholstered chair by the window is a great spot to read or just watch the world go by out the window. The matching bench between the two windows can easily be pulled over to be used as an ottoman.

Beautiful floors and artwork.
The photos should've depicted your best feature, the light.
Seems kind of dim.
I want to show some love for Philly, yet I cannot get past the distraction of those door hinges and the a/c vent. Ridiculous I know. This reminds me of the home I am currently renting and about to move out of.
I have news for you: doors have hinges and hvac systems have vents. Scary world out there, I know. I assume you'd prefer the stylish look of a window A/C unit over that tiny, white vent cover.
Nice room, love the art.
If submitter Caroline is reading, I would love to know the name of the wall paint color!
Hi Allison. The paint color is Benjamin Moore's Wickham Gray. Glad you like it!
Needs a headboard. But it's pretty.
i really like the calmness in the room
I think you'd be better served by less busy bedding (and by possibly burning those throw pillows in the front) but other than that this is a lovely, calm retreat.
I sooooo love this bedroom. Uncluttered, calm retreat!
I love the mix of old and new, modern and vintage in this bedroom. Really brings everything to life but is still peaceful.
Wow! Such hateful comments! I think the room is lovely. Also, Caroline could you tell me where you got that rug. That is exactly what I'm looking for in my own bedroom.
Love this room--soothing but not so neutral as to be boring. It took me long time to figure out that a soft grey paint is the perfect color for eastern light (that's now what we have in our east-facing bedroom too). I covet a bedroom that has enough space for a chair like that as well as an ottoman. I am truly baffled by the negative comments--hinges on doors? vent covers? Really? And like those throw pillows. To each his own.
Ginger Blue, the rug belonged to my grandmother and she has had it forever. I love it too and it really looks great in our bedroom but sorry I can't give you a source.
bellsonhopi, our bedroom is, in fact East facing and the light is great. It was a bit cloudy the day I took the photos but today it was just gorgeous! Thanks for sticking up for me! The throw pillows are Fred Shand for Anthro and they are awesome!
hi Caro, no comment on your decorating but I think you should double-check the meaning of languish, unless that truly is what you do in bed?

This post makes me wish I had enough room for a chair like yours! I also love the wall colour. Are considering adding a headboard at some point? It could add so much to your already gorgeous space! :)
I am actually in the process of getting a headboard made. I have a friend who is a woodworker and we are working on designing one together. I will definitely make the bedroom feel more finished.
Caro and AT, I'm having difficulty voting for this room. I am a confirmed user, but whenever I click on "favorite" it takes me to a sign in page, which seems to be forcing me to go through Facebook or Twitter, which I don't want to do. The page also says that I am indeed a confirmed user. What's going on, AT? And Caro, you might want to find out if other people are having a similar problem.
Thanks for bringing attention to this and thanks for trying so hard to vote for me! I have no idea what the problem is but hopefully AT can get it fixed soon!!
Why do people always think any kind of criticism is hateful? This is a contest and the commenters are the judges, most people are only providing a reason as to why they did or did not vote for something. Everyone calm down.
Nice room. But I can't help but feel a headboard is needed.
Fizzle away fizzfizz.
