Carolyn's Cure: Party Time

Liveblogging the January Cure 2014

Phew. The sprint to the finish is over, and I think everyone in my household–my chinchilla included — is ready to have a little bit of time to cut loose. So tonight, we're playing hosts to a few guests.

Ed and I want to have a larger housewarming party once a few more tasks are complete and once the weather is a bit more welcoming. But for now, in honor of the Cure's completion, we're having a small get-together for a couple of friends. Given that this is supposed to be our time to relax, I decided that I didn't want to go all out with cooking for this particular gathering. Instead, it will be a pretty simple affair: bread, cheese, mulled wine, and beer.

The main feature will be the company. There are new babies to celebrate, exciting stories to catch up on (I'm dying to hear all about my friend's recent voyage on a nude cruise, where, oddly enough, she worked as a dress code enforcer), and laughter to be shared. Minna, Champ, and Chibi (seen above in his festive gear) will also be glad of the company, and undoubtedly, they'll be given their fair share of treats.

This has been an exhausting month, but I'm so glad that I participated. I joined the January Cure a couple of years ago, and it was one of the most rewarding things I did all year. I'm expecting that I'll feel the same about 2014.
